Men’s Basketball is No. 2 Seed; Women’s Basketball is No. 4 Seed in NCAA Tournament
Both SU teams in NCAA Tournament in same year for first time in school history
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg men’s basketball team was selected as the Atlantic Region’s No. 2 seed, and the Shippensburg University women’s basketball team was selected as the Atlantic Region’s No. 4 seed, after the NCAA Tournament field was announced late Sunday evening on ncaa.com.
The Shippensburg men’s team is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2005-06 season and just its third in school history. SU will be seeking its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, having gone 0-3 in its two previous trips.
The Shippensburg women’s team is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2001-02 season and its ninth in school history SU is 11-8 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, last posting a victory on Mar. 21, 2001 against Delta State in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
The Atlantic Region Women’s Championship will be held Friday – Monday at the No. 1 seed, California (Pa.).
The Atlantic Region Men’s Championship will be held Saturday – Tuesday at the No. 1 seed, Fairmont State.
