Huskies use 7-run inning to lift them to a 9-3 victory over Red Land

LEWISTOWN – Two-for-two!

The MIfflin County softball team moved to 3-2 on the season posting its second win in-a-row to start the week, posting a 9-3 victory over Red Land Tuesday.

Sparking the win was a 7-run fifth inning after the Patriots had taken the lead in the top of the inning.

Audrey Jordan picked up the win for the Lady Huskies.

Jordan went 4 2/3 innings allowing three runs and striking out three.

Mifflin County pounded out nine hits in the contest.

Payton McClure and Riley Hine led the offense, posting two hits.

McClure and Alaina Sharp both tallied two RBIs.

Dakota Hershberger and Sharp posted doubles en route to the win.

The Huskies opened their first at bats plating a run.

Arika Henry starting things out for the “Purple and Black Attack” with a infield single.

She stole second and put herself in scoring position.

McClure poked a single back the middle scoring Henry.

Mifflin County muscled in another run in the the third.

After a single by Alexis O’Brien, Hersberger doubled her in, upping the Huskies lead to 2-0.

But the Patriots battled back to take the lead in the top of the fifth.

Despite the late Red Land rally, the Lady Huskies weren’t going be denied on this night as it went back in the bottom of the inning and scored seven runs to grab back the lead.

The Huskies will be back at home today as they will host Williamsport.
