Instant Classic: Belleville Mets minors win BV title in Nail biting contest

BELLEVILLE – It was an instant classic Friday in the Big Valley Minor League Super Series.

Belleville met Belleville in the title tilt as the Phillies battled the Mets.

The game wouldn’t be decided until the final play of the game.

In the end, the Mets would take the championship, winning 5-4.

Looking to avenge a split early in regular season contests, the Mets were looking to win the season series. They found themselves down 4-2 going into their last at bats.

Highlighting the comeback attempt was an inside-the-park home run by Jeb W.

Despite being outhit 10-5, the Mets found a way to get things done.

The Mets opened the contest posting an early 1-0 advantage in the first.

After a scoreless second, the Phillies jumped ahead posting a three run inning.

But the Mets would cut the lead to just one in the fourth, cutting it to a 3-2 contest.

The Belleville Phillies added another run in the top of the fifth, setting the stage for the Mets magic.

Yesterday, the Mets defeated Yeagerville while the Phillies topped Burnham.
