Lady Huskies shut down Altoona bats en route to victory

ALTOONA – One step closer!

The MIfflin County softball team has been starting to gel as of late.

Thursday night, the Lady Huskies brought out the bats as it took care of Altoona 11-0.

Riley Hine roped out three hits as did teammate Alexis O’Brien.

Nine total MIfflin County batters finished with at least one hit.

Two Huskies finished with home runs, they were Dakota Hershberger and O’Brien.

Picking up the win for MIfflin County was Madison Wolfgang. Wolfgang kept the Mountain Lions in check allowing only one hit and striking out 10 in the 5-inning contest.

The Lady Huskies got the game off and running, plating 4 in the top of the inning.

Wolfgang started things off with a single. Arika Henry also singled, putting runners on first and second.

Peyton McClure reached on an error, allowing Wolfgang to score.

With Henry at third, Hershberger hit a sacrifice fly, allowing her to add a run, upping it to a 2-0 contest.

Hine followed with an RBI single as McClure scored.

OBrien singled to score McClure to go into the bottom of the inning, leading 4-0.

In the third, Hersberger made it 5-0 with a home run.

Hine doubled and later scored on an RBI on a Mackenna Yoder.

When the dust settled in the inning, MIfflin County held a comfortable 8-0 lead.

From there Wolfgang would take over from there en route to the 11-0 victory.
