Late Score: SC10s Comback kids strikes again, wins D5 title

STATE COLLEGE – Two for two!

Playing for the second time in as many days, the State College 10U softball All-Stars captured the District 5 Championship with another nail biting win over the Nittany Valley Little League 4-3.

Leading the way was hurler Calysta Steffie who scattered six hits while striking out 10.

The hurler was been clutch on the mound as she has been a strike out machine in the tournament and threw a perfect game early on.

Abby Szymonski led the offensive punch for the Lady Little Lions, roping three hits in the contest.

Catcher Ryleigh Lintal and teammate Ellie Horner both finish with two hits.

Rounding out the hits for State were Rachel Gilmore and Aubrey Mark.

Nittany Valley was led offensively by Lily Park as she roped two of her team’s six hits.

Harper Bair, Saige Moore, Nora Brown and Grace Ammerman all finished with a hit apiece.

Nittany Valley got on the board first, posting a run in the first.

Bair stole home in the top of the first, taking the lead.

Nittany Valley added a run in the third to take a 2-0 lead.

Park picked up the team’s second successful steal at home.

But back came State College in the bottom of the fourth as they would tie the game at four.

Chloe Kight opened the inning with a walk.

Teammate Milana Lowe followed with a walk of her own, putting runners on second and third.

Syzmonski singled to second base scoring Kite, cutting it to 2-1.

Lowe tied the game as she stole home as well.

Back battled Nittany Valley when Brown led off the seventh with a walk. She later scored on by a Taylor Miller walk.

But like in the game the day before, the Little Lady Lions refused to go out with out a fight and take the loss.

The comeback began, Syzmonski led off with a single past second base. She then stole second and third, setting the stage for teammate Lintal. She did not disappoint.

Lintal slapped an RBI single to center.

With the game tied at 3-3, Horner brought in Lintal on a RBI double to let the celebration begin.

The State College crew will be hosting the first two games of Regionals, playing at Sichler Field Tuesday and Wednesday at 6pm.
