Levi Purnell Puts On Strong Performance As Bellefonte Takes The Win Over Carrick

Levi Purnell collected four hits in five at bats, as Bellefonte defeated Carrick 17-2 on Tuesday. Purnell doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the seventh inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

The Red Raiders got on the board in the first inning after Braedyn Kormanic singled, scoring two runs.

Bellefonte scored eight runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning. Purnell doubled, scoring one run, Josh Brown singled, scoring one run, Ryan Fraley doubled, scoring two runs, Ethan Tomasacci singled, scoring one run, Trevor Johnson singled, scoring one run, and Peyton Vancas grounded out, scoring two runs.

The Red Raiders scored six runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. Vancas singled, scoring one run, Purnell singled, scoring one run, Oliver Thornburg was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Fraley singled, scoring two runs, and Tomasacci singled, scoring one run.

Kormanic earned the win for Bellefonte. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and one run over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Mares took the loss for Carrick. The starting pitcher went four innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Johnson threw one inning of scoreless ball for the Red Raiders in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out two and walking one.

Bellefonte amassed 19 hits in the game. Fraley, the number eight hitter for the Red Raiders, led the way with four runs batted in. The second baseman went 3-for-5 on the day. Tomasacci, Johnson, and Kormanic each collected multiple hits for Bellefonte . The Red Raiders were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Fraley made the most plays with six.

Robinson, Schaffer, and Mares each collected two hits for Carrick. Schaffer went 2-for-4 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in. Carrick turned one double play in the game.
