Lewistown sweeps cheer competition

LEWISTOWN – It was a great day to be a Lewistown Panther cheerleader.

Sunday afternoon, the Juniata Valley Football League hosted its annual Cheer Competition. Cheer teams from the flag, Pee Wee and Midgets gathered together to strut their stuff and show the crowd at Mitchell Field what learned throughout the 2014 season.

In the flag division, the Panthers finished with a score of 278. In second place, the Belltown girls concluded their day in fine fashion.

Five groups of cheerleaders competed in the Pee Wee Division.

Lewistown led the way with a score of 316. Rounding out the rest of the place winners were; State College (296), Little Mingoes (291), Belltown Bobcats (269) and McVeytown Knights.

Finally in the Midget Division, the group had seven teams performing their dance and cheers.

The Panthers posted a final tally of a whopping 327. Rounding out that division were; State College (309), Belltown (303), Little Mingoes (293), Penns Valley (280), Kish Indians (274) and McVeytown Knights.
