For the second week in a row, the LHU lacrosse team’s standout goalkeeper earned PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After a record-breaking week, Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) of the Lock Haven University lacrosse team has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week.

For Girardi, it marks her second such honor from the PSAC in as many weeks.

In Wednesday’s win over Gannon, the redshirt-senior goalkeeper stole the show for Lock Haven and notched 13 saves to become the Bald Eagles all-time career leader in saves with 513. Girardi passed Chris Cortellessa who racked up 509 from 1982-1985.

Girardi added nine more saves on Saturday to rack up 22 saves for the week, and she also matched her career high with eight ground balls. Girardi currently leads the PSAC in saves with 74, and her save percentage of .569 is second in the conference. The Watertown, New York native also ranks among the top-10 in all of Division II in both categories.

LHU and Girardi are back in action on Saturday, March 26 when the Bald Eagles host Mercyhurst. That game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
