Little rally late; drop Trojans 9-5

STATE COLLEGE – Its not always how you start but how you finish that counts. Just ask the State College Little Lions after spotting visiting Chambersburg a 3-0 lead but went onto take the 9-5 victory Monday night in front of the home fans.

The Trojans picked up three of its five runs in the top of the first.

State College chipped away the Chambersburg lead little by little starting in the second, picking up two runs in the inning which was sparked by RBIs by Caleb Walls.

Going into the bottom of the fourth, the State College bats were at it again, plating three more to take a 5-3 advantage.

Tyler Hall led the rally by roping a single. Teammate Alec Lose reached on an error by the Trojans shortstop, putting runners on first and second with no outs.

With one out, State College picked up another single to load the bases. A sacrifice fly by Calvin Sechler, tied the game at three.

Derek Van Horne and Chris Adams picked up consecutive RBI singles, putting the Little Lions ahead 5-3.

However, a defensive error with two outs opened up the flood gates for the Trojans as they added two runs in the top of the sixth to knot things at five.

But the Little Lions saved the best for last as they picked up four insurance runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back, downing them 9-5.
