Lock Haven track and field opens season

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Lock Haven University women’s track & field team opened the 2022 outdoor season at the three-day Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational (March 17-19) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

 

The Bald Eagles opened the three-day meet on Thursday (March 17) night at 10,000 meters and Elaina Klinger (Danville, Pa./Danville) led the way with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying mark of 40:26.29. She was fifth overall. Molly Snyder (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) finished ninth with a time of 42:11.89.

 

On Friday (March 18), thrower Megan Manglaviti (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) led the way. She recorded a PSAC mark in the javelin throw with a toss of 116-09.00 and she hit a big personal best in the hammer throw. In the hammer, she threw 160-07.00 (LHU No. 5 all-time), which helped her place fifth overall.

 

Billie Jo Bollinger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and Morgan Perry (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) both hit PSAC marks in their respective Friday events.

 

Bollinger ran 15.27 (#PSAC) in the 100-meter hurdles and Perry ran 18:42.23 (#PSAC) in the 5,000-meter event.

 

LHU capped the meet with another strong effort today (Saturday, March 19) and leading the way was Bollinger for the second straight day. She won the 400-meter hurdle event with a PSAC-championship qualifying time and personal-best mark of 1:04.38. It’s also an all-time LHU top-five performance in the event.

 

Perry closed her efforts with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She ran 11:58.79, a personal-best time and a PSAC qualifier.

 

Anna Manley (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) and Aubrey Sechrist (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) hit solid marks in the 400-meter and 800-meter events, respectively. Manley ran 1:00.78 (400m) and Sechrist ran 2:25.44 (800m).

 

After the busy three days of season-opening competition down south in Myrtle Beach, Lock Haven will return to action on Friday and Saturday (March 25-26) at Susquehanna’s Jim Taylor Invitational.

 

Looking ahead, Lock Haven will host a pair of collegiate meets this spring. The Bald Eagles will host the Elliston Earlybird Open April 8 & 9 and Lock Haven will play host to the LHU Qualifier on May 7. Visit GoLHU.com for the full 2022 LHU men’s and women’s outdoor track & field schedules.
