MC defense leads Huskies to 4th quarter win

LEWISTOWN- What a debut!

The Mifflin County girls basketball team made it a successful 2024 debut Wednesday, as they defeated the visiting Lower Dauphin 49-43.

Leading the offensive punch at the Dawg Pound was Mackenzie Peachey who posted a 14-point effort in the victory.

Amelia Leister followed up with an 11-point showing.

Also providing some clutch points was Maelyn Gingrich who hit two triples in an 8-point effort.

Both teams started out in a 7-7 deadlock after one period.

Mifflin County’s offense started to heat up but so did Falcons as both rallied for 12 points in the second, resulting in a 19-19 tie at the intermission.

Lower Dauphin carried the momentum into the final stanza outscoring the Lady Huskies 17-14, taking a 36-33 advantage.

But the night belonged to the Huskies as they saved the best for last as they held the Falcon offense to seven while its offense sizzled with 16 en route to the victory.
