MC Field hockey honors their seniors with win over Chambersburg

LEWISTOWN – The Mifflin County Huskies field hockey team sent their seniors out in style Saturday as they defeated Mechanicsburg 2-1 on Senior day.

Neither fog, nor wet field conditions could stop the Lady Huskies on this night as they defeated the Trojans  whims goals by Brenna Dobson and Sophia McCurdy.

To start the game, the Huskies were primed and ready for action in the first quarter. The Huskies were adding onto its corner opportunities, collecting four early on.

With 8:54 left in the stanza the Huskies got their first goal as Dobson blasted a clanking goal to the back of the cage to put her team ahead early on.

Kenzie Boyd quieted the Huskies fans minutes later when she hit an equalizer to tie the game with 1:12 left in the first quarter.

Mifflin County continued its pressure at the cage and pressured the Trojans’ goal area but could not find a break in the defense.

In Chambersburg limited chances in the Mifflin County side of the field, the defense was just a successful, sending them away empty handed the rest of the first and second periods.

At the intermission, the game remained a 1-1 tie. Mifflin County led in shots by a 4-3 margin. They also held the advantage in corner opportunities by a 6-0 advantage.

Coming out of the intermission, the Huskies picked up where they left off pushing the ball downfield.

With the Huskies knocking on the door, they were able to send a blast and put their team back ahead in the contest 2-1.

From there, the Huskies were able to fend off any threats by Chambersburg. Huskies goalie freshman Maddie Norman looked very veteran-like in the goal area and was able to fend off all incoming shots to lead her team to the victory.
