The Mifflin County 8,9 & 10 year old All Star team won their first round of District play against State College tonight, 11-5. MC was able to hold SC to no runs for the first two innings while coming out strong scoring three in the first inning and one in the second. SC scored a run in of the 3rd and 4th innings while MC scored another in the 3rd and again came back strong scoring 4 in the 4th. SC started to make a comeback in the 5th scoring three runs to MC’s 2. But, SC not able to fight back any further when MC held them to 0 runs in the top of the 6th. The game ended in 5 1/2 innings with MC leading 11 – 5 in the bottom of the 6th and being the Home Team (by coin toss). The MC girls made a few minor mistakes, but overall, their defense and hitting kept them out on top the entire game. Some of these girls did not know each other two weeks ago before we had tryouts and started practice. They played against each other in the regular season. But, you would not know that with the way they have pulled together as a team. The Mifflin County coaches are very proud of how they played together and can’t see what tomorrow brings. MC play Clearfield in Reedsville tomorrow night at 6:00.
