MC girls XC team falls to talented Chambersburg squad

The Mifflin County Girls Cross Country team faced off against a talented Chambersburg squad at their first dual meet of the season. The girls ran hard despite hot temperatures but came up short losing the meet 17-46.

I knew that we were not yet at the level of the Chambersburg team but it still gave the girls something to aim for and helped to continue developing them as we go deeper into the season. Several of the girls weren’t happy with their time. I reminded them of the challenges of going through a day of school and then coming out and running in the heat. I expect that once we get to running some invitationals on Saturdays and with cooler temperatures, we will begin seeing the times they want to see.

Amilia Coffey led the team at 22:57. She ran with the top pack of 3 Chambersburg players but at about the halfway point ran into some trouble. She persisted and still crossed the finish line in 4th place. Ava Kratzer was second for the team at 24:42. The remaining scorers were Alexis Anderson (25:51), Caroline Palopoli (26:16), and Mary Kanagy (26:17).

The next race for the Lady Huskies will be on Saturday, September 16 at the Altoona Mountain Lion Invitational.
