MC track battles but falls to State College and Altoona

Double Dual Meet: Altoona and State College

at Altoona Area High School

Girls: Altoona 134 – MC 16 and SC 141.5 – MC 8.5

Boys: Altoona 98 – MC 52 and SC 101 – MC 49

The boys and girls track teams of Mifflin County traveled to Altoona for a double dual meet with Altoona Area High School and State College Area High School. Both of the teams fell to Altoona and State College. 

On the girls’ side, the points were difficult to earn, going against the two District 6 powerhouse teams. Against Altoona, the girls were able to score on both the track and the field. The 4×100 relay team ran by Lyza Underhill, Alleigh Caruso, Bailey Neff, and Calleigh Keller was able to take the win. A second-place finish was earned by Alexis Anderson in the 3200. The remaining points were earned with third-place finishers Lyza Underhill (100), Olyvia Fennell (400), Liberty Cook (800), Tai Ematat (HJ, LJ, TJ), Leah Alexander (Javelin), and Adalyn Ross (Pole Vault). Against State College, the ladies were only able to earn a few points in the field. Second place points were earned by Hannah King (Discus) and Adalyn Ross (Pole Vault). Tai Ematat (HJ, LJ) finished third and Vivian Kratzer (Discus) tied for third place.

Although they suffered the two losses, the boys’ team was able to leave an impression with some of their performances. The big races os the night were the 800 and 1600, where Mifflin County was able to sweep all of the points from State College and Altoona, respectively. They ended the meet with a strong performance in the 4×400 relay. Against Altoona, the boys were able to secure seven first-place finishes. Myka Simmons (200, 400), Michael McNitt (300H), Carter Smith (800, 1600), Hart Oden (3200) and the 4×400 relay of Myka Simmons, Caden Bell, Tylor Druckemiller, and Carter Smith took the top places in their events. Picking up second-place finishes were Michael McNitt (110H, TJ), Tylor Druckemiller (800), and Caden Bell (1600). Rounding out the team score with third-place finishes were Reese Cubbison (1600), Reece Bell (Javelin), and Ethan Plank (LJ, TJ). Competing against State College, Myka Simmons (400), Carter Smith (800, 1600), Ethan Plank (LJ) and the 4×400 relay won their events. Michael McNitt(110H, TJ), Myka Simmons (200), Tylor Druckemiller (800), Nevin Farley (HJ-tie), and Jayden Bilger (HJ-tie) earned second place finishes. Michael McNitt (300H), Reese Cubbison (800), Reece Bell (Javelin), Travis Renninger (Shot Put), and Ethan Plank (TJ) finalized the contribution to the team score with third place finishes.
