Mifflin County Huskies Fall After Strong Showing By Cumberland Valley

The Mifflin County Varsity Huskies softball team couldn’t keep up with Cumberland Valley and fell 12-2 on Wednesday.

Cumberland Valley got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Emma Stroup singled, scoring one run, and Gracie Lau doubled, scoring three runs.

Cumberland Valley scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. Stroup doubled, scoring three runs, Sydney May doubled, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Cumberland Valley added two runs in the third after Emma Morgan doubled.

May earned the win for Cumberland Valley. They gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking one. Piper Specht took the loss for the Huskies. The righty went two innings, giving up nine runs on nine hits, striking out one and walking two.

Ava Baker led the team with one run batted in. Jalee Bodtorf, Dakota Hershberger, and Alexis O’Brien each collected one hit for Mifflin County . The Huskies turned one double play in the game. Mifflin County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Bodtorf had the most chances in the field with three.

Cumberland Valley tallied 14 hits in the game. Annika Shearer and Stroup were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Cumberland Valley. Stroup led Cumberland Valley with five runs batted in. They went 3-for-3 on the day. Morgan, May, and Lau each collected multiple hits for Cumberland Valley. Graysen Trybulski led Cumberland Valley with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game.

Next up for Mifflin is a game against Williamsport on Friday.
