Mifflin County takes District 6 title

Back in the high life again.
Two teams so evenly matched, took to the field hockey field for the field hockey field Tuesday to decide the District 6 Class AAA championship.
Mifflin County traveled to familiar territory as they took on State College, a team they defeated just a little over a week ago 2-1.
Fast forward to Tuesday, with a state playoff berth at hand as well as the title, Mifflin County showed a flare for the dramatics, breaking a 1-1 tie in the final two minutes to clinch the win in nail biting fashion.
Marissa Byler tallies both goals for the Huskies in the victory.
The Huskies went into the intermission, holding onto a 1-0 advantage.
Coming out of the intermission, the State College offense went into a complete ball handling frenzy, taking the ball right at the heart of the Mifflin County defense and goalie Selena Breneman.
Breneman was sparkling under pressure tallying 10 saves in the contest.
After holding the Little Lions at bay for 23 minutes, Aley Moore slid one past the Huskies’ goalie, tying the game at one with 7:47 left.
Both teams went on a back and forth thrill ride of change of possessions, fast breaks and clutch saves.
As it appeared as the game was heading into the overtime period, the Huskies managed to put one in with 1:48 left.
Byler again got the jump on the State College’s goalie one last time, making it 2-1.
The game continued at it phernetic pace as the Lions refused to go out without a fight but it was to no avail, as the Huskies won its fourth title in five years.
Despite a a second half 12 corners, the Little Lions were only able to muster one goal.
