Mifflin County wrestlers still alive; Faces Williamsport Saturday

HERSHEY – Finishing strong!!

It was a good news/ bad news day for the MIfflin County wrestling team Saturday in the second day of the PIAA Class AAA Team Duals.

The bad news was the Huskies unbeaten streak was ended by the number three seeded Waynesburg Central.

Despite taking the contest down to the final weight classes, MIfflin County fell 31-24.

However, in the consolation round, the Huskies battled back and got back to their winning ways, dropping

Canon Mcmillan 45-23.

With the win, MIfflin County returns to the mat Saturday against at 9:00 am against Williamsport.

After falling at 126-pounds, Mifflin County picked up a win at 132 when Blake Aumiller pinned Mikhail Krenzelak at 5:33.

138-pounder Jacob Cunningham won a hard fought 5-3 decision over Josiah Gardner.

At 145, Deakon Schaeffer won a UTB over Tyler Soule 5-5.

The winning continued at 152. Parker Kearns, who has had a strong showing, won a 6-1 decision over Landen Simms.

160-pounder Kyler Everly notched a pin at 2:52 over Gianmarco Ramos.

189: Trey Shoemaker added to the Huskies lead at 189 pounds when he pinned over Geno Calgaro at 3:47.

The Huskies got  the win at 215 when Anson Wagner got his hand raised in victory.

It was a second consecutive forfeit win at 285 as Jaxson Pupo picked up the easy win.

Rounding out the MIfflin County winners was 113-pounder Nic Allison when he pinned Brandon Dami at 2:22.

Starting at 120, Hunter Johnson got the Huskies on the scoreboard with a  pin over Xavier  Harmon at 1:33.

152-pounder Parker Kearns blanked Jake  Stephenson by a 5-0 decision.

At 160, Kyler Everly muscled out a 5-2 win over Nate  Kirby.

106-pounder Styers Oden pinned Jake  Thomas at 0:57.

Finishing the morning match was 113-pounder Nic Allison won via forfeit.
