Penns Valley girls tie Clearfield in 2OT thriller

It was a total stalemate Tuesday as the Penns Valley girls tied Clearfield 2-2 in in a two overtime thriller.

Clearfield opened the scoring when Madison Davis hit an unassisted goal at 1:36.

Penns Valley battled back as Hannah Montminy posted the tying goal at 11:57.

Montminy put the Rams ahead on an assist by Nikki Denger 42:34.

Clearfield’s Elle Smith tied the game late in the second at the 65:45 mark.

“Playing at Clearfield is always one of the toughest tasks for a number of reasons.  We got off to a poor start and shied away from defensive responsibilities but we were able to settle down and get back into the game,” said Penns Valley Coach Andrew Beverly. “We were able to create numerous good chances but struggled to convert.  It’s a tough game where we’re coming away disappointed not having won the game but Clearfield are a strong, young team and if you don’t finish your chances then they’ll punish you.”

Penns Valley led in shots 19 -12.

The Rams goalie Kylie Auman had nine saves while Clearfield’s Hayley Moore had 11.

Penns Valley led also in corners by a 4-2 margin.

Penns Valley’s record is now 7-8-2.  The Rams next game is on 10/19 at BEA.
