Reed: Huskies impressive in comeback victory

HERSHEY – The 3-3 Mifflin County Huskies traveled to Milton Hershey to take on the 3-3 Spartans.

Mifflin County Trailed 20-7 at halftime the Huskies would outscore the Spartans 42-15 in the second half to complete an impressive comeback defeating Milton Hershey 42-35. Senior quarterback Jason Burney connected on a pass to Mike Blidi to take a 7-0 lead with 9:33 remaining in the first quarter. Burney would connect on a pass to Alex Kohl for a 65 yard touchdown.On the opening drive for the Huskies Landen Eichhorn would be picked off with 10:20 remaining in the first quarter. Eichorn would bounce back when his next opportunity would come to him and he would do just that Eichhorn  would connect on a pass to running back Deakon Schaeffer to get on the board for the first time in the game. Mifflin County leaned on the star running back all night long  Schaeffer found the endzone four times the strong blocking would help out as well and great performance at the center position.

Bo Reeder made an impact in the game.

Tyrail Hills Jr gave the Huskies a hard time .

Mifflin County showed toughness throughout the game forcing a turnover on a fumble.

Peyton Kearns caused problems for the Spartans all night long making tackles all over the field playing his position well.

Brother Parker Kearns played well on defense making his presence felt too. Christain Henry was in the tackle column with two tackles Henry had a strong first half but was kept quiet in the second half.

Owen Gipe and Avery Aurand also made tackles  in the winning effort. Milton Hershey would have one more chance late but the ball would fall short of the Spartan receiver Mifflin County would win to move to 4-3 on the year. 

“ We made some mistakes on both sides of the ball but that’s part of sports you gotta overcome it and we were able to do it our run game was awesome tonight,” said MIfflin County coach Shane Breon. We went under center we’ve been struggling a little bit with snaps going under center paid off for us tonight so we will move forward to next week and see what we gotta do on senior night at Mitchell field and hopefully we can give them guys and good game too.”
