Reed: My prediction for MIfflin County/Northern football game

By Dom Reed
The Mifflin County Huskies 1-0 will travel to 0-1 Northern York to play the Polar Bears

in Dillsburg Pennsylvania.

The Polar Bears are coming off a tough loss to Spring Grove falling to the Rockets 31-14.

The Huskies are coming off a big win over the Wildcats against Central Mountain 42-6 on the road.  This will be the team’s second consecutive road game before Mifflin County heads home to host Mechanicsburgh next Friday.

It was a rocky start of the season for Northern’s quarterback Grady Bonin only completing 6 of his 16 passing attempts with a 40.6 quarterback rating. He was 1/1 in touchdown interception ratio throwing one touchdown while throwing one interception.

Northern York might look to run the football more. The Polar Bears had more success on the ground. Bonin rushed for 25 yards on seven carries while running back Gabe Johnson ran for 50 yards on 18 carries. Johnson was the team leader in receiving last week going for 17 yards on two receptions.

Mifflin County was very explosive in the teams’42-6 win over Central Mountain in week 1. Mifflin County will look to bring that success into this week’s game against Northern York.

Mifflin County’s  offense was on point in week 1. Quarterback Fletcher Wilson tied the school record with four passing touchdowns. Wilson went 10/17 throwing for 159 yards with a 129.7 quarterback rating. Mifflin County’s backup quarterback Chase Hartung went 2/4 81 yards throwing one touchdown pass with a 135.4 passer rating.

Mifflin County has a solid receiving core coming into the season it showed in week one. Cyrell Green had three receptions on 33 yards with a receiving touchdown.Dupree Reed had one reception totaling 31 yards scoring once in the winning effort.Huskies Landon Haigh scored twice racking up 108 yards averaging 36 yards Avery Aurand had a few explosive plays rewarding himself with a touchdown catch Aurand totaled 59 yards.Mifflin County really didn’t see the ground game break big. Brice Rishel lead the night on ten carries for 27 yards. Jaxon Strohecker and Josh Maldonado got to see action.

The defense opened up the scoring drive for Mifflin County Green picked off quarterback Hunter Hoy to start the opening drive.Huskies defensive man Green racked up 56 total yards in interception yards. Aurand lead the team in tackles with six. Hunter Tipton was good up front so was Peyton Kearns, Gavin Herrigton and Haigh. Both found themselves in the tackle departement.

Prediction Huskies vs Northern York

Mifflin County had a explosive offense last week as the Wildcats failed to contain the Huskies electric passing attack.  I think that will be the same result in this game with a defense of Mifflin County that has had success with in the in game game plan. Changing the defense will keep the Rockets in check in this game. Bonin struggled in his first game. Give me Mifflin County Huskies.

38-14 Huskies win!!
