Rundown of State College golf team’s memorable season

DISTRICTS

Congratulations to the State College Boys Golf team on winning the 2023 District 6 Championship. The boys defeated Hollidaysburg by 30 strokes shooting a +21 (309) to Holidaysburg’s +51 (339). The Little Lions were led by the 2023 Individual District Champion Max Wager. Max shot a + 1 (73) to win his 2nd Individual District title. This is the State High boys 6th District Championship in row and 7th in 8 years. Also congratulations on our other individual district 6 medalists Luke McGraw 3rd place and Brady Wager 4th place. Luke McGraw tied for 2nd and lost a heartbreaker on going to the State finals on a two hole playoff for 2nd. The boys move on to face the District 8, 9, and 10 champions in a SubRegional to qualify to play in the State Championship. Max Wager qualified for the Individual PIAA State GOLF Championship on October 16-17 by winning Districts. Good Luck Boys. Go State!

SUB-REGIONALS

Congratulations to the boys Varsity golf team on winning the Western Regionals and advancing to the PIAA team State Championship on Wednesday October 18 at the PSU Blue Course. The Little Lions won in an exciting Sudden Death playoff over Warren High School. State High was paved by the outstanding play of Brady Wager and AJ Corson both shooting 78s on a tough Treasure Lake Silver Course. Hanging tough and contributing to the victory was Luke McGraw 82 and Max Wager 88. The State College team sent out Brady and Luke first both making pars to match the Warren pars to allow Max and AJ to seal the win with two more awesome pars to the two Warren boogies. Rounding out the State College scoring was Sam Shaner with a 90. We will be rooting these 5 awesome players on to hopefully another State College State Championship. Go State!
