The Shippensburg University wrestling team completed the dual meet portion of its schedule Thursday with a loss at No. 11 Pitt-Johnstown, 46-0.

The Raiders (1-16, 0-7 PSAC) found scoring hard to come by against some of the best wrestlers in the conference and in the region. Pitt-Johnstown (15-2, 7-0) finished off a perfect conference dual meet record with the win.

Sophomore Trey Shoemaker (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) put forth a noteworthy performance at 197 pounds, scoring a reversal and a takedown against the No. 5-ranked wrestler in his weight class, Pitt-Johnstown’s Dakoda Rodgers.

In the end, the riding-time point awarded to Rodgers was the only thing that separated the two combatants in a 6-5 Rodgers victory.

SU now turns its attention towards the postseason and the road to the NCAA Division II National Championships hosted by Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. The postseason begins with the NCAA Division II Super Region I Championships Saturday, March 2 at Kutztown University’s Keystone Arena.
