The Shippensburg University men’s outdoor track & field team achieved numerous bests on Saturday as it concluded the regular season in competition at West Chester’s Last Dance Invitational.
In throws, graduate Cam Strohe (Bangor, Pa./Bangor Area) leapfrogged teammate Josh Herbster (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) leaderboard in the hammer throw, posting a NCAA-provisional qualifying mark of 186 feet, 10 inches that marks a new season best of nine inches.
Pat Maloney (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) affirmed his league lead in the discus with a season best of 172 feet, 8 inches that improves his PR by six inches. Brooks Bear (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) was third with a new season best of 151 feet, 7 inches.
Freshman Jordan Leake (Franklin Township, N.J./Central Jersey College Prep) finished second in the shot and enhanced his collegiate best to 45 feet, 8 inches.
On the track, the 4×400-meter relay of Stephon Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), Josh Booth (McConnellsburg, Pa./McConnellsburg), Drew Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) and Charles Bowman Jr. (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East (Virginia)) improved its season best by nearly two full seconds in posting a time of 3:14.71.
