State College 12Us offense too much for Bellefonte

BELLEFONTE – The State College bats were working early and often Friday in their District 5 12U Winner’s bracket baseball battle.
Sparked by an 6-run third inning, State College took the contest 9-0.
Little Lions’ pitcher DeVontae Hardison had a strong outing tossing a shut out, striking out six and allowing four hits in his 5 innings on the mound.
Teammate Skylar Crane came in in the sixth to end the contest.
Bellefonte got hits from Garrett Cain, Ashton Howell, Zach Lehman and Quin Park.
State College finished with seven hits. The offensive punch was led by home runs by Crane and Caleb Foytack.
Leading the way was Hardison who went 2-for-2, 2 runs and an RBI.
Teammate Foytack went 2-for-2, with 3RBIs, double and a home run.
Rounding out the two hit club for State was Matt Gaul who posted two singles, a run and an RBI.
In the top of the first, Bellefonte was kept scoreless.
State College took the lead in the bottom of the inning plating two runs.
Kellen Williams reached first on a Red Raider miscue.
Hardison reached on a walk, putting runners on first and second.
Williams scored thanks to a single by Gaul.
Hardison later scored on a n RBI fielder’s choice by Reagan Dillon, ending the scoring in the inning.
Bellefonte had its chances in the top of the second , loading the bases but could not notch a run.
Bellefonte kept State College off the board in the second.
However, Bellefonte again we’re sent back out to the field without a run as the State College defense stood tall, despite leaving runners on base.
Things started out with “a bang!” in the bottom of the third inning when Crane launched a shot into center, making it a 3-0 contest.
Williams followed when he reached on an error for the second time in the game. He then stole second where Hardison had an answer as he smoked an RBI single into right.
Gaul followed with a walk.
Hardison scored on a strike out went into the dirt allowing Dillon first base.
With one out, Gaul and Dillon scored when Foytack plastered a 2-RBI shot into left field.
He later scored on an RBI fielders choice that landed him across the place, making it an 8-0 advantage going into the fourth.
Bellefonte refused to go away as they were able to send the Little Lions down scoreless in the fourth and allowed just one in the fifth.
In the fifth, Foytack launched a blast to end the scoring at 9-0 and the State College win.
