By Kenny Varner

STATE COLLEGE – Sometimes you have an off-night!

After playing two consecutive emotionally draining wins over the Nittany Valley Little League softball team, the spunky group from State College was blindsided by Clymer and their pitching phenom, Reese Mahaffey as they fell 12-0 in four innings in the opening Regionals action.

Mahaffey had her A-game working full blast as she struck out 12 batters, allowing just one hit.

However, the Little Lady Lions stayed fired up the whole contest, showing their refusal to give up no matter the odds were.

Picking up the lone hit for State College was Calysta Steffie. Steffie hustled out a bunt down third that was picked up by Mahaffey and overthrown, allowing Steffie to hustle down to third.

Despite taking the loss, Steffie went three innings striking out five while walking six as she battled a tight strike zone.

After sending down State College in order, Clymer started its offensive contest, posting three in the first.

Alyssa Houser led off with a blooping single just over the head of Steffie.

Teammate Kendra Pavlesky followed reaching on a walk.

Both moved over a base when Mahaffey grounded into a fielders choice.

Izzy Cooper posted an infield RBI single, scoring Houser.

Carly Moyer kept the rally blasting a 2-RBI double, ending the scoring at 3-0.

Clymer continued to roll in the second plating five more, upping it to a 8-0 advantage going into third. They continued to roll posting seven runs total in the third and fourth, ending the game at a 12-0 victory.

But the the “Comeback Kids” have a chance to rejuvenate their season as they will be back at it again Wednesday to try to tie the three game series at one.
