State College field hockey improves to 9-2 on the season

State College wins 4-0 over the visiting Chambersburg. Ella Tambroni started the scoring with a crossing pass from Sydney O’Donnell in the first quarter. Tambroni became the 8th Little Lion to get the game winning goal. The State College’s balanced attack began to find their groove in the second quarter when Sierra Grande capitalizing on a scramble in front of the goal mouth. Less than one minute later, Rachel Foster collected her first goal of the season deflecting a strong pass from Phebe Herlocher, sending the Little Lions into the half leading 3-0. Third quarter action saw a lot of back and forth play with the Trojans earning their best scoring chances on the night. State College goalie Molly Schreiner denied the Trojans at every attempt, earning her 5th shutout on the season. In the 4th quarter action, Joelle Bartlett entered the game quickly earning a State College penalty corner. The fierce corner unit team quickly converted the foul into a goal with Phebe Herlocher scoring off assists by Sydney O’Donnell and Joelle Bartlett. This was Phebe Herlocher’s 7th goal on the season.

State College is now 9-2 on the season 7-1 in conference play.
