Storm rolls over Compass Academy

STATE COLLEGE – Teamwork, unselfish play and a high tempo offense took center stage Monday afternoon at Grace Preps home court as the team went up against a visiting Compass Academy team.
After a very close first half, the Storm went thundering through the second half en route to the 62-45 victory.
“That’s the best we have played all season. We played very unselfishly and everyone helped out on defense. This was better than any other game we played,” said Grace Prep coach David Hindhart. “We knew going in they (Compass) had good athletes but we knew if we could get one against five we were going to win.”
With the victory, the Storm improved to an impressive 13-5 on the year.
Leading the way for Grace Prep was Jake Stormer who tallied 19 points.
Jared Stormer followed up with a 14-point effort while teammate Carl Oelhaf chipped in with 12.
In the first quarter, Grace Prep opened the game off outscoring Compass 15-11 in an up-tempo fast paced quarter.
The Storm continued its lead into the intermission as it outscored Compass 15-9 to take a double-digit advantage at 30-20.
Things started to roll for the Storm in the third quarter when it landed 20 points in the period while its defense held Compass to eight points.
When the two teams went into the final stanza, the home team led 50-28.
Though the fourth quarter saw Compass go on a 15-4 run in the period, the Storm ended on a high note going on an 8-2 run of their own for the 62-45 victory.
