Thunder beats Grace Prep remains unbeaten

By Joshua Yoder
BELLEVILLE – An offensive surge in the second half led by senior Quinn Renno carried Belleville Mennonite to a 6-0 victory over the Grace Prep Storm during an ACAA boys soccer match on Tuesday.
It was scoreless for half of the first half until Landen Armstrong broke that tie and scored the lone goal for the entire half.
But when the second half began, it became pretty clear that the Thunder turned it into another gear scoring five goals in the frame.
Where it took 20 minutes to score a goal in the first half, it only took ten minutes for Belleville Mennonite to score their next goal during the second half as Drew Miriello launched a corner kick that ended up getting swiped in mid-air by the foot of Colton Sunderland which found its way to the back of the net giving the Thunder a 2-0 lead.
From there the floor gates opened as Renno joined in on the action and took advantage of a penalty and knocked in the third goal of the game.
Renno then became the assister as he moved the ball to an open Bryson Peachey who then turned and blasted the ball into the net to extend it to a 4-0 ballgame.
Renno then came back for more and scored his second and third goal to complete the hat trick for the Thunder with Samuel Stoltzfus getting the assist on the second goal while Miriello got his second assist on the hat trick goal.
Belleville Mennonite moves up to (4-0) and will look to remain unbeaten but will be facing long time rival Northumberland Christian on Friday at home.
On the flip side, Grace Prep is now (1-1) and will look to get back on track with a win. The Storm will also be at home on Friday as they welcome the Juniata Christian Lions.
