Wright, Parks lead Mounties to win

Cresson, PA – The Mount Aloysius women’s basketball team picked up a crucial conference victory on Wednesday evening as the Mounties defeated visiting Franciscan by a final score of 67-46.

The Mounties were paced by senior Antwanye’ Parks, who celebrated Senior Night prior to the game, and freshman Jessa Wright. Each scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Mounties to victory. Breana Kendrick recorded 11 points and Lea Sammarco dropped in 10 points off the bench. Alexia Servello dished six assists from the point guard position.

Mount Aloysius jumped out to a 18-8 lead after one quarter that was capped by a steal and driving layup from Parks just before the buzzer sounded. The Mounties expanded their advantage to 34-19 by halftime and cruised to the win in the second half.

Defensively, the Mounties forced 21 Baron turnovers led by Parks and Kara Cordell who each registered three steals. Offensively, Mount Aloysius had 21 assists on 27 baskets.

With the win, the Mounties move to 8-9 in conference play and 10-14 overall. They will travel to Hilbert for their season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m.
