The Central Mountain baseball team won big over
State College 11-3 on Monday.
The Little Lions got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.
State College added one run in the second.
Logan Shannon stole home, making the score 2-0.
Central Mountain captured the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the second after Jase Seltzer singled, and Isaiah Maldonado singled, each scoring two runs.
Gage Laughner earned the win for the Wildcats. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking three. Brady Myers pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Central. The reliever gave up one hit and zero runs while, striking out four and walking four. Sebastian Rhoades took the loss for State College. They went four innings,
striking out three and walking one.
The Wildcats piled up 11 hits in the game. Watt Probst, Central Mountain’s number seven hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Connor Foltz, Maldonado, Probst, and Seltzer each drove in two runs for the Wildcats. Central Mountain turned two double plays in the game.
Rhoades and Jack Coleman were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for the Lions. Jake Hall paced State College with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Shannon stole two bases. State College turned one double play in the game.
Next up for Central Mountain is a game at Loyalsock Township on Wednesday.
