LEWISTOWN – On to the championship!

With its impressive win Thursday against an up and coming Altoona squad, the MIfflin County girls softball team finds itself going to yet another D6 championship contest.

Offensively, the Lady Huskies topped the Mountain Lions 15-8.

The win solidifies another confrontation with a very familiar foe, State College.

Picking up the win for MIfflin County was Piper Specht.

Her teammates slugged out 15 hits en route to the victory.

Leading the Lady Huskies in the hit department was Alaina Sharp who went a perfect 3-for-3 on the night scoring three runs.

Sizzling slugger Ava Baker keeps her hot hitting alive as she posted two hits. Highlighting the night was her home run shot.

Others notching two hits for the “purple and black attack” were Arika Henry, Dakota Hershberger, Alexis O’Brien and Savannah Powell.

Sharp and Powell posted triples while Sharp, Henry and Hershberger posted doubles.

Mifflin County opened with a run in the bottom of the first.

With one out, Henry ripped a double to get the inning started.

She later crossed the plate on an RBI single by O’Brien.

Then in the second, the Huskies added two more to its lead, upping it to a 3-0 advantage.

Sharp led off with a 1-out double. She moved to third on a single by Riley Hine.

Henry scored Sharp on a defensive indifference play and an error.

Hine scored on a second Altoona miscue in the inning, giving the home team a little breathing room.

The big inning for Mifflin County came the third inning as it rallied for a 6-run inning, putting them in control at 9-0.

But the Huskies continued to pile on the runs, adding another three more runs an inning later, putting them up by double digits 12-0.

However, the Mountain Lions refused to go away so easily as they put up a 7-run rally to jump back to within striking distance at 12-7.

It was too little too late for Altoona as the Huskies were not to be denied on this night, staying alive and heading back to the D6 title tilt.
