Bald Eagle Area sizzles against PO

WINGATE – From the very first kick off the Bald Eagle Area football team had all facets running on full charge as they scored twice on special teams and five touchdowns through the air to take home a 49-0 win over Phillipsburg-Osceola Friday night.

Leading the way for the Eagles was quarterback Carson Nagle who threw for four touchdowns and 208 yards through the air.

Mix in two touchdowns on special teams by Gavin Eckley and the route was on.

“We’ve been searching, especially after the last few weeks we’ve had players out. We felt this was the first we we’ve had everybody at practice. I think the kids responded well. I thought that was a really hard offense to prepare for,” said Bald Eagle coach Jesse Nagle. “I thought our scout team did a great job this week in preparing our defense. When we have the ability to do that to show their offense like we did. I think we showed that we can make adjustments and make plays and the kids did.”

Bald Eagle chose to receive and 12 seconds later, the choice paid off.

Eckley took the ball at the 22 and found an opening and blazed his way through the Mounties’ defense for the touchdown.

The Mounties blocked the PAT but the Eagle still led 6-0.

The defense held the Mounties to a four and out, giving the ball back to the Eagles.

Immediately, the Eagles offense marched their way down the field, culminating in a Carson Nagle to Camron Watkins 8-yard TD pass.

On the PAT Bald Eagle successfully made a 2-point conversion), upping the lead to 14-0 with three minutes left in the first.

With its defense stopping the Mounties on its second possession, the Eagles went back to the air.

Nagle hit Kahale Burns on a 40-yard hook up for the touchdown, making it a comfortable 21-0 advantage

Before the intermission, the Eagles would drop one more explosive play on the Mounties.

Nagle again threw a perfect pass in stride to Camron Watkins on a 43-yard TD pass.

When the two teams went into the intermission, the Eagles had a 28-0 lead.

In the third quarter, Philipsburg’s offense again was stopped by the tough penetration by the Eagles into the Mounties back field.

On their first play from scrimmage in the second, Nagle found Kahale Burns once again, this time it culminated on a 5-yard TD pass putting the game into the mercy rule with 6:04 left in the third.

Eckley found paydirt once again when he picked up a punt and again blazed his way for a 60-yard TD punt return at 2:57.

Rounding out the scoring when

back up quarterback Nicholas Wible found Gavin Burns for a 12-yard TD pass rounding the scoring at 49-0.

In the contest, the Eagles offense gambled four times on fourth down and we’re a perfect 4-for-4.

Bald Eagle will celebrate homecoming this Friday evening.
