Bald Eagle comes back to top PO 2-1

WINGATE – A total nail biter!

The Bald Eagle girls soccer team defended their home field Tuesday in its game against Philipsburg-Osceola in Laurel Highlands action.

The Lady Eagles won 2-1.

Offensively, Bald Eagle outshot the Mounties 10-3 and held advantage in corners 11-3.

BEA goalie Makayla Spicer finished with two saves while PO’s Grace McClure finished with eight.

Going down a goal in the first half motivated the girls to push hard in the second half. The senior connection of Khloe to Claudia tied the game and the Adrienne Hacker put a perfect free kick into the box and Addisyn Burns buried it in the back of the net.

“We made a few adjustments with the formation and on set pieces and it paid off and the girls worked really hard in the 2nd half,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “The defense was outstanding in the second half led by Sydney Thompson, Cadence Stem, Alexa Thomas and Lily Spicer shut down their offense created a lot of transition plays for us to get scoring chances. Great comeback win.”

In the first half, PO’s Lily Warlow notched the first goal of the game at 30:15.

Trailing late into the contest, the Eagles finally got on board thanks to a Claudia Irvin goal with an assist from Khloe Cunningham at 60:24

Addisyn Burns have the Eagles the game winner off an assist from Adrienne Hacker at 73:29.

BEA’s Record improves to 8-7-1 overall and 7-7-1 LHAC.

In JV action, Bald Eagle won another close contest, 1-0.  Savanna Albright had the lone goal for the Lady Eagles.

Maddy Smith finished with three saves on three shots.
