WINGATE – A Scorching win.

Pinpoint passing, strong ball handling and opportunistic shooting helped the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team secure an impressive 6-2 win over visiting Bishop Carroll.

The Eagles came out firing on all cylinders Tuesday as they hosted the first game of a soccer double header at Alumni Stadium.

“It seemed like we couldn’t get a rhythm going in the first half. We came in and talked a little bit at halftime. We put some goals in the net which was fine,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “But when we came out in the second half we really started connecting. We were just leading to much in the first. But then we played the feed finding our targets and I think it worked out so much better for us.”

Bald Eagle Area notched an early 2-0 lead in the first half.

Bald Eagle held the early offensive advantage as its high-Octane offense took it right into the Huskies defensive end.

With 31:55, the Eagles forced its first corner opportunity but was stopped and then cleared.

Bishop Carroll was led by a clutch effort by its goalie Claire Long. Long stopped 10 shots in the first, keeping the Huskies within striking distance at the half.

Offensively, the Eagles got on the scoreboard at the 13:58 minute mark. Addyson Burns picked up a rebound from her previous shot and sent it home, making it a 1-0 contest. The defense allowed only two Huskies shots.

Bald Eagle added another goal in the late minutes of the first to take a 2-0 lead going into the intermission.

Coming off a corner, Sybil Thompson scored it end the half scoring.

In the second, the Lady Eagles started to breakaway from the Huskies, continuing to push the ball downfield, tiring out the Carroll players.

Making most of the pressure, the Eagles added a third goal at the 28:48 mark.

Sybil Thompson picked up a pass from teammate MacKenzie Bickle in transition.

Two minutes later, the got right back on the board, Thompson sent a picture-perfect pass to teammate Chloe Cunningham and from there into the goal, upping the score to a comfortable 4-0 advantage.

The Huskies refused to go away as Maddie Lieb cut the Eagles lead to a 4-1 deficit as she posted a goal with 19:28 still left in the game.

However, the Lady weren’t done either. Less than a minute later, Savanna Albright hit the open shot, making it a 5-1 contest.
