Bellefonte baseball teams tops Tyrone in walk off fashion

BELLEFONTE – Coming into the 2024 season, the defending state champion Bellefonte baseball team knew that they would have a large target on their backs and they would get the best of what every team had.
In the season opener, the Red Raiders opened the 2024 season in an explosive contest against a feisty Tyrone team.
The Red Raiders showed what they were capable of as they took the best punch that the Eagles had and came through in the clutch, winning 7-6 in a walk-off affair.
The game was knotted at six in the bottom of the seventh when Ethan Tomasacci singled, scoring one run.
In the first, Tyrone jumped out to a 2-0 advantage.
However, slugger Braedyn Kormanic homered deep to left field, tying things at two.
Back came the Eagles in the third taking back the lead at 3-2.
Back rallied the Red Raiders once again, taking the lead in the bottom of the inning. Levi Purnell singled, scoring two runs, making it a 4-3 lead for Bellefonte.
In the fifth, Tyrone tied the contest once again, 4-4.
In the bottom of the fifth, Bellefonte broke up the tie when Purnell doubled, scoring one run. Josh Brown singled to give the Red Raiders some breathing room at 6-4.
But the Golden Eagles would not go away as it tied the game in the top of the seventh.
Parker Capparelle gave up one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none.
Bellefonte roped 11 hits in the game.
