Bellefonte boys lacrosse plays strong early against legendary Wyoming Seminary LAX team

BELLEFONTE – The Bellefonte boys lacrosse team started the 2024 season off with traditional lacrosse powerhouse Wyoming Seminary.
For most of the first half, the Red Raiders held their own, until the final minutes of the half, trailing the Black Knights 16-5.
In the end, the Blackhawks Knights would proved to be too much as Wyoming took home the 23-9 victory at Bellefonte high school.
Leading the Red Raiders in scoring was Ryder Hamilton with four hard fought goals while teammate Owen Herr finished with the hat trick scoring three. Rounding out the scoring for the Red Raiders on the day was Brady Wertz and Aidan Auman both with a goal scored.
With his four goals, Hamilton needs only nine goals to hit the 100-career goal mark.
Wyoming got a 9-goal effort from a phenomenal effort by Jack Herron.
In the first, the Black Knights score first in their first possession of the game.
However Hamilton, who led the point, was able to scored on a power play with Wyoming playing short handed. He slapped a one-hopper past the Wyoming goalie.
The Blackhawks took a 5-1 advantage into the second.
But the Red Raiders came out of the brief intermission on a mission to cut into the deficit.
Herr got the scoring started sizzling a shot to cut the lead to 5-2.
Hamilton cut the score once again when Hamilton hit a running sling shot of a strike, cutting it to 5-3.
Offensively, the Blackhawks Hawks continued to up the tempo.
The run would be a 10-2 margin that would up the Wyoming lead to 16-5 advantage at the half.
The Red Raiders got goals by Hamilton and Herr in that run.
Despite falling behind by 11 at the half, the Red Raiders continued to keep battling throughout.
However, it wouldn’t be enough to change the outcome on the day.
