Bellefonte girls picks up Mountain League win over Mounties

The Bellefonte girls basketball team and Philipsburg-Osceola took to the court Monday night in a Mountain League contest.

Despite being on the road, the Lady Raiders were able to battle for the 40-22 win.

Leading the scoring for Bellefonte were Maria Cotter with 17 and Madison Ripka 10.

The Mounties were led by Reagan Thorp who netted eight.

Despite slow start early on, Philipsburg-Osceola coach Brandon Myers liked the way his team worked its way out of it.

“From about halfway through the 3rd quarter through the end of the game, our offense started to come out of the funk we’ve been in lately,” said Myers.”We were playing with a lot of life on both sides of the ball which was very nice to see. Our defense played as well as it has all season. We definitely got better tonight.”

With the win, Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer is very happy with his team’s effort.

“This was a good win for the team as they have continued to work hard every day in practice. They were able to see the results they have been working towards,” said Toomer. The team has played great in the last couple of games and I am proud of the progress they have made.”

Bellefonte’s Record is 2-9
