Bellefonte grinds out a hard fought battle versus rival Bald Eagle Area

BELLEFONTE – A bounce back win!

The Bellefonte baseball team got back to its winning ways Monday as they broke open a tie late to capture a 3-2 victory over rival Bald Eagle Area on Monday.

Knotted at two in the fifth, Bellefonte took back the lead when Alexander Ebeling singled, scoring what would be the winning run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Bellefonte’s Dominick Capperella got the win struck out two, while Bald Eagle pitcher Tyler Serb sat down three.

The Eagles got things going in the right direction in the second inning, when Parker Quick singled to plate Bald Eagle’s first run.

Capperella, allowed only two runs on six hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Peyton Vancas came in in relief to get the save.

Serb took the loss for Bald Eagle Area. The hurler lasted six innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out three.

Levi Purnell, Braedyn Kormanic, Vancas, and Ebeling all had one hit to lead Bellefonte

Quick went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bald Eagle Area in hits.
