Bellefonte opens week with a convincing win over BG

The Bellefonte baseball team picked up where left off Saturday as they defeated Bishop Guilfoyle, 11-1 in Laurel Highland action.

Levi Purnell led the offensive attack of the Red Raiders going 4-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.

Ethan Tomasacci rounded out the multiple hitters for Bellefonte with a 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Six different Red Raider players finished with an RBI.

Picking up the win for Bellefonte was Parker Capperelle. Capperelle went six innings allowing one run on three hits, striking out four.

Ironically, the contest started as a strong defensive effort by both teams until the top of the fifth.

In the inning, Bellefonte played five runs.

The Mauraders bounced back with one in the bottom of the inning.

However, the night belonged to the Red Raiders as they piled on a 6-0 run the rest of the way to improve to 4-0.
