Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity Nabs Win Over Williamsport Despite Early 4-Run Inning

Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity weathered a scare by Williamsport in the second inning where Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity coughed up four runs, but Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity still won 5-4 on Tuesday. The offensive firepower by Williamsport was led by Morrone, Signor, Sims, and Mazzante, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Williamsport took an early lead in the second inning when Mazzante grounded out, scoring one run.
In the top of the third inning, Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity tied things up at four when Zach Swanger singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Nick Capparelle singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Derek Fravel was credited with the victory for Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity. The pitcher allowed seven hits and four runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Dylan Dann threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Collyer started the game for Williamsport. The pitcher surrendered five runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out three.
Swanger, Capparelle, Max Rogers, and Seth Shuey each collected one hit to lead Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity. Bellefonte Red Raiders Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Bobby Marsh had the most chances in the field with eight.
Sims led Williamsport with two hits in three at bats.
