Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Bellefonte Past Penns Valley Rams

The bottom of the lineup helped Bellefonte  capture an 8-0 victory over Penns Valley on Wednesday.

Parker Capparelle, Ryan Fraley, and Ethan Tomasacci combined for four of the team’s seven hits in the victory. They scored three runs and drove in one.

The Red Raiders scored five runs in the seventh inning on the way to victory.

Tomasacci singled, scoring one run, Trevor Johnson was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Peyton Vancas hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

Bellefonte were the first to get on the board in the fifth when Levi Purnell singled, scoring one run.

Capparelle earned the win for the Red Raiders. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out one and walking one. Jon Meyer took the loss for the Rams. They went five and one-third innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out six and walking three.

Tomasacci tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Bellefonte in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Purnell, Fraley, and Tomasacci each collected two hits for the Red Raiders. Vancas, Purnell, Johnson, and Tomasacci each drove in one run for Bellefonte.

Jackson Romig went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Penns Valley in hits.

Bellefonte plays at home on Friday against Hollidaysburg in their next game.
