Clearfield 4, Penns Valley 1

It was a tough night for the Lady Rams soccer team as they ran into a tough Clearfield team.

The Rams fell 4-1 against their opponent Thursday night.

Penns Valley picked up the first goal of the night but Clearfield’s Raquel Grice notched the final four en route to the victory.

Clearfield out shot Penns Valley 29-13 but held the advantage in corner opportunites 7-5.

Penns Valley keeper Kylie Orndorf picked off 19 saves while Clearfield’s Madison Jone finished in double figures as well scooping 10.

Two minutes in, Penns Valley’s Destiny Andrus picked up a pass from teammate Val Kubalak and sent it home, making it 1-0.

Ten minutes later, Clearfield tied the game on an unassisted goal by Grice.

“This was a good game until Clearfield scored their third goal. We played well early and certainly had our opportunities to equalize after they scored a couple,” Rams head coach Jeff Smucker said. “We played impatiently on defense and this ultimately allowed them to get behind us and go one-on-one with our keeper a few too many times.”

From there Grice dominated the scoring sheet, picking up goals at the 20:23, 62:28 and 73:50 minute marks of the game.

In the junior varsity contest, the Rams blanked Clearfield 7-0.
