Penns Valley boys tie Huntingdon in 2OT thriller

Penns Valley Boys Soccer vs Huntingdon

 

SPRING MILLS – After a marathon game including two overtimes, there were no winners declared in the Penns Valley boys’ soccer contest against Huntingdon Wednesday afternoon at the Rams’ home field.

After a scoreless first half, Penns Valley opened the scoring in the second half just 58 ticks into it.

Robert Stattel passed to an open Burton Peese and he sent it home, making it 1-0.

The Rams would keep the lead for all but the last five minutes of regulation.

But with time running out, the Bearcats got the look at the goal they needed and Huntingdon’s Austin Bauman slipped one past the Rams’ goalie.

Neither team was able to pick up a goal the rest of way and the game finished the way it started, as a tie.

Penns Valley held the advantage on shots on goal by an 11-5 margin while Huntingdon picked up the edge in corner opportunities by a 4-1 tally.

Penns Valley got three saves from keeper Tiger Welch while Huntingdon’s Kody Heaton collected eight. The Rams record  falls to 1-7-1 Penns Valley’s next match will be 9/17 vs Clearfield at Clearfield 6pm JV Start, 7:30 pm Varsity Start In JV action, the Rams fell to the Bearcats 3-0.
