Crusader Men’s Swimming Rallies to Second-Place Finish

SCRANTON, Pa. – A strong finish guided the Susquehanna men’s swimming
& diving team to second-place finish at the 2013-14 Landmark Conference
championships.

The Crusaders, who were in third place after both the
first and second days of competition, edged Catholic by a mere four points
(577-573). USMMA captured its seventh-straight conference title with 950 points.

Bill Crumrine (Beaver,
Pa./Beaver Area) was the top finisher for SU in the 1650 free as his time of
16:34.80 earned him third place and set a program record in the process.
Teammate Tyler Long (Selinsgrove,
Pa./Selinsgrove Area)
finished sixth after recording a time of
17:05.34

In the 200 back, Eric
Lawrence’s (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom)
time of 2:00.52 earned him the number
eight spot.

The 100 free saw freshman Lucas Cherry (Falls Church, Va./George
Mason)
boast a second-place finish with his time of 47.41, a PR and the
third-best time in SU program history.

Danny Csakai (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom)
and Sam Calhoun (Bloomsburg,
Pa./Bloomsburg)
were fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 200
breaststroke with times of 2:09.79 and 2:10.01, both PRs.

Jourdan Stewart (Danbury,
Conn./Danbury)
earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 butterfly with his
time of 1:59.31.

The weekend came to a close with the 400 free relay in
which SU captured third with a time of 3:11.22 with swims from Cherry, Duncan Frazier (Montgomery,
Pa./Williamsport Area)
, Stewart and Danny Csakai (Bethlehem,
Pa./Freedom)
.
