East Juniata posts first field hockey win

East Juniata 2, Lancaster Country Day 1
The East Juniata field hockey team captured its first win of the season as they defeated Lancaster Country Day 2-1 Tuesday afternoon.
East Juniata picked up its first goal in the first half when Laney Dowling off of a Chloe Dressler pass and scored at the 5:29 mark.
In the second half, Dowling scored her second goal of the game thanks to an assist by Kyli Dowling with 20:03 left in the game.
Lancaster Country Day’s Claire Deimel, hit her team’s only goal with 11:19 showing in the final stanza.
“The girls played a great game and were able to stop Lancaster Country Day from scoring the tying goal. The girls came out ready to play, and were able to break through and score a goal in each of the halves,” said East Juniata coach Harley Straub. “We will come back Thursday and play a great game against Newport.”
East Juniata outshot LCD14-13 and held the advantage on Conner opportunities by a 9-6 margin.
Saves LCD’s Gaby Kuntz had 13 while EJ’s Madison Beward tallied 12.
In the JV Game, East Juniata shut out Lancaster Country Day 1-0.
East Juniata’s next game is Thursday, September 14th at East Juniata vs. Newport at 4:00.
