EJ girls fall to Halifax

East Juniata Tigers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 11-1 loss to Halifax on Thursday. Halifax scored on a single by M Davis, a single by J Ashberry, and a single by E Miller in the first inning.
East Juniata Tigers Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. East Juniata Tigers Varsity scored one run on a stolen base in the first inning.
Halifax took the lead for good with four runs in the first inning. In the first M Davis singled off of Allison Beaver, driving in one run, J Ashberry singled off of Beaver, driving in two runs, and E Miller singled off of Beaver, driving in one run.
Halifax scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Halifax came thanks to a single by S Walker, a single by Ashberry, and an error.
Ashberry earned the win for Halifax. She tossed six innings, giving up one run, six hits, and striking out two. Beaver took the loss for East Juniata Tigers Varsity. She pitched two innings, giving up five runs, six hits, striking out one, and walking one.
Meghan Schilling went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead East Juniata Tigers Varsity in hits.
Halifax collected 12 hits. Walker, T Lenker, Ashberry, and L Schumber each collected multiple hits for Halifax. Ashberry went 2-for-3 at the plate as she led the team with three runs batted in.
