EJ girls riding the victory wave

The East girls soccer team continues the wave of success as it defeated Montoursville 4-1 over the weekend.
After both teams battled to a scoreless first half, the Tigers came out of the intermission alive and kicking.
Eleana Benner got the scoring started for the Lady Tigers as she scored on an unassisted penalty kick at the 46:01 mark.
Less than five minutes later, Kierstyn Fogle upped the EJ lead to 2-0 scoring at 50:55.
Picking up the third goal of the game was Hailey Swartz as she caught a pass from
Leah Sankey and blasted it home, less than two minutes later at 51:56.
Montoursville got on the board when Allyse Marchioni off an assist by Kyleigh Balint tickled the twine at 66:12.
But Swartz and company has the last laugh as she got a pass from Kierstyn Fogle.
“Today we got to see how we stack up against a high quality team. The girls did exactly what we talk about and teach everyday,” said East Juniata coach Valeria Dressler. “They had strong build-ups on the field and capitalized on their chances in front of the net. We are very happy where we are at in the season.”
East Juniata had 23 shots on goals.
The Tigers goalie Lily Sankey tallied four saves and landed two corner kicks.
East Juniata improved to an overall record of 7-1 and a Tri-Valley League mark of 4-0
