Huskies compete in first home swim meet of the season!

BURNHAM – Mifflin County competed at their best as they host Mid-Penn rival Cumberland Valley in a swim meet over at the Juniata Valley YMCA on Tuesday.
For the girls, the Huskies were defeated 113-20. They were led by sophomore Ava Kelly who scored two top five finishes for the evening. The first came in the 200 yard freestyle where she came in fourth place with a time of 3:20.03. Kelly later in the meet placed third in the breaststroke at 2:05.51.
Another standout was Addi Parson who placed in a pair of events as well. The senior finished in third during the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 8:58.25 and then fourth in the 100 backstroke at 1:42.29.
Senior Rosalyn Landsberry was the third Mifflin County swimmer to place in multiple events starting with a fourth place finish in the 50 freestyle at 36.95 and fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:25.16.
Sophomore Cameron Shuey was the fourth and final Mifflin County girl swimmer to place in multiple events. Shuey got it started in the 50 freestyle with a time of 39.30. Shuey later finished in the sixth spot with a time of 1:30.48 during the 100 freestyle.
Only girls that placed during the meet for the Huskies were Amilia Coffey who placed third in the 50 freestyle ay 34.80. The other being junior Alexis Anderson who was fifth in the 100 backstroke at 1:58.15.
On the boys side of the meet, Mifflin County was defeated by Cumberland Valley 130-6. Senior Jacob Kratzer finished in third place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.57 and then had another third place finish during the 100 butterfly at 1:23.36.
Also competing for time was Juniata’s own Daniel Shearer. The senior finished the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.32 and then competed in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.08.
Mifflin County will compete again next Tuesday as the Huskies will welcome rival State College to the Juniata Valley YMCA. The swim meet will begin at 6 p.m.
