Lock Haven, PA

When Jared Miley drove under Dan Lingle’s checked flag, history was made at Clinton County Motor Speedway. The Pittsburgh, PA driver did so in dramatic fashion.

Miley’s night started  poorly as he suffered a flat tire while leading his heat race. The misfortune placed him in 20th starting spot for the 40 lap A-Main.

Coleby Frye of Dover started on the pole and led the first lap before giving way to Ridgely, VA driver Matt Cosner on lap two. Cosner paced the field, surviving several caution periods until the final lap when Miley’s wining pass came as the leaders received the white flag. The caution flag waved as driver Dave Brouse JR went to the pit area setting up a green, white, checkered flag finish. Selinsgrove driver Jim Yoder moved to the runner up spot on lap eighteen where he finished. Yoder, and, the rest of the field had a final shot at Miley, but couldn’t mount a serious challenge. The race finished with Miley the winner and, Yoder second. Dylan Yoder, Middleburg, and, Cosner waged war to the finish line where they managed to bump and bang to the checkered flag. The pair spun and slide at the flag eventually turned sideways low on the front strech in front of the field. They crossed the line with Yoder third and Cosner fourth. Frey was fifth. Sixth through tenth were Devin Hart, Shaun Jones, Bryce Davis, Kirk Baker and, Andrew Yoder.

Heat races were won by Davis, Andrew and, Dylan Yoder. Davis of Ackwood, NY set fast time at 13.732 seconds.

Miley’s run to the checkered flag could have ended early as he spun on lap 32. Miley never came to a complete stop. Under Northeast Ultimate rules, Miley was returned to his position where he went on to score the win.

A multi car pile up in turn one stopped the field on lap 18 briefly for clean up and, towing. Cars involved or blocked included Jones, Baker, Joe Petyak, Mike Smith, Kevin Probst, Brian Bernheisel and Dave Brouse, “Jr.”.

Miley earned $3,000 for the win plus contingency awards.

The Weaver’s Radiator & Auto Repair/Jay Coder Excavating & Trucking 270 micro sprint feature was dominated by Lock Haven’s Jeff Weaver. However, it wasn’t automatic. Weaver started on the pole along side Skeetx Hockenbrock of Paxinos. Neither would lead the first three laps. Jersey Shore’s Bobby Sanso started fourth and, drove the L G Dickey Contracting/R & J Excavating no. 20 S into the lead with  Weaver and, Hockenbrock following. Weaver drove to the front on lap fourth with Sanso second. Hockenbrock went to the lead on laps nine and ten but was set back two spots for jumping a prior restart. That placed Weaver back in front with Tyler Snook second. Weaver went on to score win number four with Snook second. Snook’s finish was short lived as he was docked for jumping a restart. Denny Rinehimer ended up second with Hockenbrock third. Sanso finished fourth with Snook fifth. Sixth through tenth were Shaun Musser, Timmy Bitner, John Roberts, Dan Wertman and, Tom Quiggle.

Heats for the 270’s were won by Ethan Spotts and, Weaver.

Jonestown, PA’s Scott Lutz showed why he is leading both the Laurel Highlands and Gary’s Motor Mart IMCA sprint car points at Clinton County Motor Speedway. Lutz started second and drove the D.E. Richard Garage/Speedway Mart & Car Wash no. 33 into the lead from his second place starting spot. Lutz led all 20 laps and, was followed home by Dakota Schweikart, Ken Duke, “Jr.”, Tyler Cochran and, Dale Schweikart. Sixth through tenth were Ryan Lynn, Dylan Proctor, Jeff Weaver, Reed Thompson and, Dave Guss “Jr.”. Duke and Lutz won qualifiers.

In Millers Automotive pro stock action, Noah Jensen drove the Jensen Engine Technology no. 19 to his first win of the season over Nathan Stroup. Jensen got the lead on lap three after taking over for pole setter Robert Tressler. Jensen and Stroup were followed to the flag by last weeks feature winner, Kevin VanAmburg, who charged from fifth to third over the final two laps. Tressler was fourth with Ray Rothfuss fifth. Chris Snyder finished sixth. The remainder of the field did not finish the event with the exception of John Jayjac who was scored tenth, six laps down.
